Chanukah in Mironova

Dovid Yagudchenko
Chanukah hear started off brilliantly with all the kids pumped up about all the festivities. Motzie Shabbos we had a grand “Latkes Uvent” and Driedel tournament. The latkes were created by our very own Grand Chef Abrasha. Chef Abrasha, who used the special recipe given over great-great-great-grandmother to grandson, made each latke with special care and zeal. Special thanks to the kids of Mironovo for helping out, especially Pogi who nearly blinded himself with the onions! We also sent off some of our “Starshi” on Shlichus we wish them lots of hotzlocha.

Sunday was a fully packed day. Starting off with an amazing musical performance by the “malchai”. Later, right after we lit menorah together, we all packed onto a “marsherutka” that took us to the grand home of the Director of Tzivos Hashem to the “Former” U.S.S.R., Yossi Glick. There we were treated to the finest of meals giving us some taste of the real world back home. We then with very full stomach’s got on our way to……. Katuck(ice skating)! When we got there the lines were out the door and we thought we had no chance in getting in. But thanks to wonderful Russian mentality another 5 griv per person created a new V.I.P. branch to building and we had a terrific time (oh god how we love this place). Thanks to Yossi and Sara for being such wonderful hosts.

Monday night we had a superb Chanukah party in the house one of our dearest teacher’s Menachem Kurtzwiel. He first told an amazing breathtaking story, and we were then treated to some delicious latkes and nosh. We all sat around chilled played driedel and enjoyed the nice homely feel. Thank you Menachem and Dalya for arranging such a great party.

Tuesday we came into yeshiva to sight of another Chanukah miracle. A fire had started after we left the night before from a fallen candle but thank god it did little damage before a guard finally saw it and put it out. That night the kids were really pleased to have some sponsors coming over and giving each kid 5$. We thank them for that!
