Yeshiva goes Skiing but this time with lifts!!!
For the past two Sundays those who excelled in Yeshiva were treated to a day of skiing on mount Lavina in Yekatrinoslav. There at the mountain the guys actually had the privilege to go up the mountains with lifts as opposed to our trip to the Carpathian Mountains where foot power was all we got (due to poor snow conditions). The boys had a wonderful time, and definitely hope to get to do it again in the future.

Hachnosas Sefer Torah in Yeka
Wild dancing and singing were heard in the streets of the Rebbe’s city last Thursday as a new Sefer Torah was donated to the Yeshiva’s Levi Yitzchok. The Sefer Torah with its hundred year old history which includes surviving the pogroms of the early 1900’s to escaping the clutches of the evil hand of the Communistic “Iron Curtain” is a true symbol of Jewish perseverance.
With meticulous and painstaking effort the head Sofer to Deneper and Mashpia in the Yeshiva, Reb Rueven Margolin worked for many months writing many new parshios for it and to gave it a real make over.
The entire community came out to sing and dance in honor of the new Torah, welcoming it to its new and final home. Hakafos were held in the Yeshiva’s Shul and went on for many hours followed by a grand seudah.

Otchin Vezholstaya - An ad by Yeka
What in the world was Meir saying?
This year during color war, the winning team of Mitzvah made a Coca-Cola advertisement that aired on w.y.e.k.a. in the Belanova region, for the entertainment of the local babushkas. Each staff member would say his most innate feeling about Coke. (See video at the bottom of this post). Meir too, expressed his feeling, although it is debatable what he meant.
Well I guess this post is geared to those a little more versed in the Russian language. After watching the video one evening, trying to get the full picture, I couldn't get for the life of mine, what Meir was saying. Asking him on the following day in 770, shed little light. “Otchin Vezholostaya” he told me. I said “Who”? That is what he was told to say, however it might be possible that he didn't correctly understand it, not having majored in Russian literature, explained Meir.
Asking some local friends originating from
Akiva maintained that the word must have been влажный – wet or moist. That’s true.
Dovid Litvishenko’s opinion: вежливо – polite and civil. Well, maybe Meir was asking to please pass the coke.
Yasha Gurevitz (not pictured) said it reminds him of выживать – to survive. He must have been dying for some coke.
Boruch Leder: выживает – gives life. Now there’s a compliment to Coca-Cola. Tzali Chechetka: жидкая – liquid or watery. Can't argue.
Yehudah Tzik after initially stating that this was глупост – nonsense, and convincing him of the urgency of the matter conceded to respond. Живистая (slang for выносливый) -which means hardy and of great endurance. (Obviously this is only before the fizz runs out).
Well, What do you think? Now it's your turn to decide. As for me, I think I'll stick to Dr. Pepper for tonight. Happy Drinking!Posted by CGIforever 3 comments

California Update
Just wanted to post a quick update from our CA headquarters.... Big Mazel Tov to one of our best patrons, who after spending a summer in Ukraine (pre Yeka era) was still able to be convinced, persuaded and swindled into coming back for two more years... (one of which was not easy; to say the least.....) Mendy Pellin, mazel tov, we are all very happy for you. Unfortunately the night you asked me to look into, is already booked at the "dom pristerelih" (old age home) so Mironova or Katzubinskaya seem to be the only options at the moment... Wishing you a binyan adei ad with much happiness together. Also belated mazel tov to Michoel on the birth of his daughter, and a very belated to Eli Pink for his second. Here's a little video from our recent fishing trip.... Chaim
